Date and Location of Next Election for Officers/ Fecha y lugar de la próxima elección de funcionarios
The date of the next election for officers (Directors) of the District will be the next uniform election date set by state law in May in an even-numbered year (currently the first Saturday in May), except that elections at which the candidates are unopposed (like District’s May 2, 2026 general election) are not to be held, as prescribed by state law.
La fecha de la próxima elección de funcionarios (Directores) del Distrito será la próxima fecha de elección uniforme establecida por la ley estatal para el mes de mayo en un año par (actualmente, el primer sábado de mayo); no obstante, no se celebrarán las elecciones en las que los candidatos no tengan oponentes (como la elección general del Distrito del 2 de mayo de 2026), tal como lo estipula la ley estatal.
The next election for officers (Directors) of the District will be held in Montgomery County, Texas, at polling place(s) to be designated by the District’s Board of Directors or by Montgomery County (in case the election is held jointly with the County).

Requirements and Deadlines for Filing for Candidacy / Requisitos y plazos para la presentación de candidaturas
A candidate must complete an application for a place on the ballot or a declaration of write-in candidacy. Forms for applications or declarations may be obtained from the Secretary of the District, the Secretary’s Designated Agent (see Notice of Appointment of Designated Agent, linked above), or the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s office (see https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/index.shtml#chapter-2). The forms must be completed, signed, notarized, and filed with the Secretary or the Secretary’s Designated Agent by the appropriate deadline shown below.
Todo candidato debe completar una solicitud para figurar en la boleta electoral o una declaración de candidatura por voto escrito. First day to file:
The first day to file an application for a place on a general election ballot is the 30th day before the last day (deadline) to file.
Deadlines to file:
The last day and deadline to file an application for a place on a general election ballot is the 78th day before the date of the election at 5:00 PM. The last day and deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy for a general election is the 74th day before the date of the election at 5:00 PM.

Chapter 15 of the Texas Election Code requires each candidate to file an appointment of campaign treasurer and other reports. Forms and instructions are available on the Texas Ethics Commission website at https://www.ethics.state.tx.us/forms/coh/cohfrm.php.

Generally, to serve as a Director of the District, a person must: (1) be at least 18 years of age on the first day of the term of office; (2) be a citizen of the United States; (3) be a resident of the State of Texas for one year; (3) be either a qualified voter within the District or own land subject to taxation within the District; (4) have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities; (5) have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; and (6) acknowledge awareness of the nepotism law, Chapter 573, Government Code.
Por lo general, para ejercer como Director del Distrito, una persona debe: (1) tener al menos 18 años de edad el primer día del mandato; (2) ser ciudadano de los Estados Unidos; (3) haber residido en el Estado de Texas durante un año; (3) ser un votante calificado dentro del Distrito o poseer tierras sujetas a impuestos dentro del Distrito; (4) no haber sido condenada en sentencia firme por un delito grave del cual no haya sido indultada o liberada de otro modo de las inhabilitaciones resultantes; (5) no haber sido declarada, mediante sentencia firme de un tribunal con jurisdicción testamentaria, total o parcialmente incapacitada mentalmente sin derecho a voto; y (6) declarar tener conocimiento de la ley sobre nepotismo, Capítulo 573 del Código de Gobierno.
